Ground Control Space Opera

The International Space Orchestra has lift off!

Last night (September 13th) the Space Orchresta took to the stage in San Jose, USA. We can only imagen how it went, but I bet it was an enigmatic performance that will be hard to forget. My congratulations go to everyone involved especially Nelly Hayoun for making it all happen.

The International Space Orchestra is the world’s first orchestra of space scientists. Blending space exploration and bassoons; planet-poking and bluegrass-playing spacecraft operators – the International Space Orchestra’s members are individuals drawn from NASA Ames Research Center, SETI (Search for Extra-terrestial Intelligence), Singularity University and the International Space University.

Directed by Nelly Ben Hayoun, featuring music written by Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn with Bobby Womach; Maywa Denki and Penguin Cafe’s Arthur Jeffes. With lyrics by Bruce Sterling & Jasmina Tesanovic. Musical Director: Two time Grammy-Award Winner Evan Price.
