My second equine shoot went a lot smoother after my initiation of fire photographing a yearling race horse for the Guardian Weekend a few months ago. Having learnt a good lesson or two on how to deal with the sensitive nature of professional horses there was relative calm on set this time around. For example paper backdrops in a gentle breeze create a similar noise to distant thunder which easily spooks a horse!
